polar week september 2015 - APECS Bulgaria participated in the european researcher's night
he European Researchers' Night is a major multinational science communication event that takes place each year, on the last Friday of September. In 2015 in Sofia the event took place at the recently renovated National Gallery of Foreign Art (a.k.a. Square 500). APECS Bulgaria's participation was focused on geodetic and geological application in the polar regions and Aurora Borealis and Australis.
SOFIA SCIENCE FESTIVAL MAY 2015
APECS Bulgaria again participated in the Sofia Science Festival and has a stand at the Exploratorium 2. Early-career scientists showed to the kids how to measure with a ruler the weight of a stone, how to make snow or fossil, how to work with surveying instruments, to tie alpine and marine units, etc.

APECS Bulgaria organized a seminar at the Sofia University "Sv. Kliment Ohridski". The program of the event included lectures on Antarctic geology and paleontology, presentation of educational activities of our team and an interview with one of the first Bulgarian Anatrctic explorers - the geologist and artist Zlatil Vergilov.
Polar regions of the planet - a seminar at the National Polytechnic Museum
The National Polytechnic Museum had just started its new season of Family Saturday educational events. A tradition, which delighted their and our friends, offering a fascinating trip to the polar regions of the planet, jointly organized with APECS-Bulgaria. This time the audience learnt about Bulgaria in Antarctica, similarities and differences between the Arctic and Antarctica, ecosystems in the ice, third Pole of the Earth - where it is, how it is discovered and measured. The best participators received the September issue of BBC Knowledge magazine, which has an APECS Bulgaria frontage article.
dr. asparuh kamburov won national geographic-bulgaria's competition for young researcher
Our colleague and vice president of the APECS Bulgaria Asparuh Kamburov is already the hero of "National Geographic Channel"! He won the competition for young researcher and episodes with him began on 2 June.

On the occasion of the 125th anniversary National Museum of Natural History APECS Bulgaria presented charity photo exhibition "Antarctica - the cold South" of Iglika Trifonova. Visitors
of the museum could play in the scientific casino "Crystal",
dedicated to the International Year of crystallography, where a team of
beautiful and smart dealers, cashiers and inspectors gave much knowledge of
geography and geology.

More than ten lectures were held in two schools in Sofia and Tserovo. Denica Apostolova talked to second-grade students from the private school "Prof. Ivan Apostolov" and Milena Hristozova - to several age groups from 32 school "St. KlimentOhridski". Iglika Trifonova and EleonoraBalkanska gave talks and prepared an Antarctic photo exhibition at Tserovo School.

December 2013 passed under the sign the International Antarctica Day. Children from several schools in Sofia, Kardzhali and Kroumovgrad painted flags of Antarctica. Their drawings were brought together with the drawings of children from many countries to the South Pole where was prepared an exhibition on the ice. There was another exhibition in the school "Otec Paisii" in Kardzhali - the drawings of the students were exhibited at the school building.

Large outdoors photo exhibition for the general audience – the White continent and the history of Bulgarian polar exploration through the eyes of Bulgarian polar researchers. Talks in several schools and Social and Youth centers for orphans and street children.
Sofia science festival may 2014
“Why science at the poles is necessary” - interesting scientific experiments, lectures about polar explorers, funny polar games, quizzes and attractions for kids. Hundreds of smiling and inquisitive children and parents went through our stand and improved their knowledge about Arctic and Antarctic.

More than 20 events for the general audience and for the schools, the most important was the participation in Sofia Science Festival – in collaboration with British Council-Bulgaria and Bulgarian Antarctic Institute.

Lectures about Antarctic mammals in schools in two Bulgarian towns Sofia and Svoge.Students from the Eco-Bio Club "Green Clover" of the 1st English School in Sofia made presentations on topics related to the poles in the EU Information Centre. Children from several Bulgarian schools took a part with their paintings in the flagship activity “Antarctica Day Flags – from the classroom to Antarctica”. APECS Bulgaria was active for the first time during the September Polar week 2012 when Bulgarian students drew flakes, blobs and bubbles under the flagship educational activity and also took a part in a video talk with Dr. José Xavier.
